The brief introduction of Wushen
Nicknamed as Saiwai Jiangnan, famous for its natural beauty, located in the southwest of Erdos city and the southerneast of Inner Mongolia, sited on the golden economic delta dominated by heavy chemical processing industries, enclosed by Inner Mongolia, Shixi and Ningxia provinces, Wushen banner covers a territory of 11.6 thousand square kilometers and has a population of 100 thousand. It has
 

a long history and shining culture and also one of the earliest revolution bases in whole region.

Rich in natural resources, with its 700 billion cubic meters¡¯ natural gas ranks the first in the county level of the China, Wushen county has abundant coal resources, total reserve reaching 30 billion tons, and natural alkali, argil, turves, quartz sand, malm and Wushen earth, etc. It is also endowed with rich agricultural, farming, water and arable land resources. Whole banner has an available pasture area 9 million acres, forestry 4.75 million acres and 500 thousand acres¡¯ irrigable farmland, with the plant and forest respectively accounted for 65% and 26.1 in the land. It has a 0.7-billion cubic meters of underwater reserve, which is the main water provider for national key industry project, Shenhua coal liquefaction project. The Batuwan reservior is the largest reservoir in the banner, with totally 100 million cubic meters water reserve.

The whole banner administrates 5 townships and 59 villages, with 30 thousand households and 97 thousand people, among them 50 thousand are male, 29 thousand are Mongolians. The banner have 73 thousand people engaging in agricultural production and 23.8 thousand in other business, with an average income 6,836 Yuan per capita and 4,783 Yuan for agricultural people, among them whose who aged under 40 have accepted the 9-year¡¯ compulsory preliminary education. The population of poverty-stricken is 9,504, the poverty households accounted for 12 percent of the total population, with 9 poverty villages confirmed.
The overall cultivated land is 550 thousand acres in 2005, in which the fodder corn occupying 484 thousand acres. Two no-pollution agro-product brands in Wutinghe and one green agro-production base have been identified. By the end of the year, the total number of livestock reached 1.73 million, with pigs 175 thousand. It produces 2,296 tons¡¯ meat, 21 thousand tons¡¯ milk, 33 thousand tons¡¯ cashmere and 351 thousand piece of leather. It also has 240 thousand acres¡¯ cultivated grassland and 175 thousand acres¡¯ high quality irrigable grassland.
